Strength & Endurance Training:
Build Power, Boost Recovery

Strong muscles don’t just help you lift heavy weights—they make everyday life easier. From climbing stairs and carrying groceries to playing sports or keeping up with the grandkids, strength and endurance training helps you move better, feel stronger, and improve balance.

How We Build Strength in PT

Not all strength training is about bulking up. In physical therapy, we tailor your program to your recovery goals, using safe, targeted exercises to restore function and prevent re-injury. Depending on your needs, we may use:

  • Isometrics: Holding a muscle contraction without movement.
  • Isotonics: Controlled movement against resistance.
  • Isokinetics: Resistance at a constant speed.
  • Plyometrics: Quick, explosive movements.
  • Eccentric work: Lengthening muscles under tension.

Therapeutic vs. Hypertrophy Training

During rehab, we focus on therapeutic exercise – gentle, controlled movements (often using just your body weight) to wake up muscles, restore nerve signals, and build a foundation for strength. As healing progresses, we add resistance to increase muscle fiber recruitment without overloading healing tissue.

Hypertrophy training – the heavier lifting that builds muscle size – usually isn’t the goal during recovery. It requires heavier loads and longer training cycles, so we only introduce it if it aligns with your post-rehab goals.

Your Customized Plan

Our therapists determine:

  • The right exercises for your needs
  • How often you should do them
  • How much resistance to use
  • How many reps will bring results safely

We track your progress closely, making sure every session moves you closer to your strength and mobility goals.
